Marketing on a Budget

The recent economic downturn and the massive layoffs have plenty of people worried enough to consider working from home. Many people find out for themselves that they cannot rely on companies to give them jobs and that they must start a business making money independently. This is why starting a home business or a small business has become very popular. There are lots of work from home ideas for people to try and there are also work at home reviews to help them select the right businesses to start building.

For a small business, the startup costs can be overwhelming. There are many things you have to do when starting a business such as advertising, marketing, branding, stocking up inventory and the list goes on. While a big business will have a large advertising and marketing budget, a small business usually does not. If you have already chosen what kind of business you are starting, you might want to get the words out about your business by networking with people you know. You can advertise your business inexpensively by word of mouth. You can talk to your family members and friends and ask them to tell others that they might know about your products or services. By going to events and network with other professionals such as at chamber of commerce meetings, you will be able to meet and connect with people who might want your products or services.

Your brand name is also important. A brand is a name or trademark connected with a product or producer. Brands have become increasingly important components of culture and the economy. If you are advertising a brand name product, then people will already have heard of your product and it will usually not be hard to market it to the right crowd. If you have invented something then you might want to protect your proprietary rights through trademark registration. For a business owner to be successful, he or she will need to put a lot of work into the business.

Brand Boosting In The Digital Domain

There are new brands being launched on the internet every day. Sadly, a large percentage of them fail before they even really get going. Then of course you have the more traditionally offline brands that are venturing online and in the hope of unearthing whole new markets. These companies tend to have the finances to make a splash but even they find it a whole lot harder than they expected get foothold online. Let’s examine two tactics used by the online experts to get brands noticed and respected.

Advertising . This is a very quick and relatively easy way to get your brand into Internet user’s paths. There are many forms out there such as banner advertising or Googles Adwords, and some are probably more appropriate for your brand than others. A good trick is to test the water so to speak for a number of methods before you jump in head first. Set aside a small budget for lots of different types of online advertising and then gradually increase your spend with the ones that give you highest return on investment and brand awareness. Another consideration should be where you place your advertising on the net. If you are a provider of liability insurance quotes for instance, you don’t want your ads being placed on skin care sites.

Social Media. There has been a lot of hype about social media over the past few years but their are few people who know how to get the most from it. It never fails to amaze just how many companies consider having a Facebook group with 100 members a storming success…until they get no benefit back at all that is.. Also, it is again vitally important to choose your online location targets carefully, much like you would with your advertising. Much like with online adverting, where you place yourself in social domains is very important. If you are trying to promote a hair salon for example, you will want to be checking out beauty and fashion forums, joining groups that are related to hairstyling and contributing content to these places on important topics such as salon insurance or where you can buy the best hairdryers.

Branding your business

There are a few different ways to make your business grow.Of course probably the best way is to use advertising. You have what is called direct response advertising.  And you have brand advertising.I would like to explore the method of branding.

Now the reason to brand your business are a couple.  You want your name known so people trust your company.  And you want your brand thought of when a consumer needs that type of product or service.

So to effectively brand there are a couple of ways. There is a great way to brand that I want to share with you which is to use mobile billboards.  I will offer my perspective from what I have experienced first hand running my own mobile billboards San Diego company.

There are a couple of options in using mobile billboards.First you can have specifically designed trucks built for it.Or you might use current trucks and use the side of it for the ad. This is also known as truck advertising.  Truck advertising in San Diego has been very successful for my clients.

Now why is mobile billboards so effective in branding? Well because your ad gets seen. The other ways of advertising has a certain problem.  There problem is that a consumer may not see it.That isn’t the case with truck advertising.  Unlike TV or Radio it can’t be turned off.  It gets viewed clearly by the consumer in traffic. So your message gets read and heard.

So if you are in need of great ways to effectively brand your business, mobile billboards may be something to choose.  When you compare the mobile billboards rates you will be pleased. It is reasonable in terms of price when you compare it to radio or TV.Yet as I stated earlier your advertisement will get delivered.

It is a very strong and powerful branding method for your business.Businesses far and wide have seen it’s power and love it.Your business ought to consider it as a way as well.Especially if your objective is to have people learn all about it.

Advertising, Hype, & Integrity

Should you use hype in your writing or not? You might be tempted to say, “Yes” immediately, but maybe you should hold back a bit.

What is hype? Here are a couple of definitions from Dictionaryreference.com: “exaggerated publicity; hoopla…. an ingenious or questionable claim, method, etc., used in advertising, promotion, or publicity to intensify the effect.”

Of course, we’ve all seen it and we’ve all seen it. Internet marketing, for example, has spawned a lot of it, with online gurus claiming to be making zillions of dollars. So, if we all know it’s out there, and we’re all aware of it, why would advertisers or marketers use it?

Hype is designed to generate heightened emotions, and we see it used extensively in sales copy. But it also turns up in some employee communication, and especially in staff newsletters when the wrong people get involved.

But getting back to the discussion; as it evolved it became clear that hype comes in two kinds, a good kind and bad kind. Something like good and bad cholesterol, I suppose.

Good hype might be described as arising out of genuine enthusiasm. It’s sincere and an expression of satisfaction, joy, a desire to share something good, or some other positive emotion. So, it does have a place in advertising, and ultimately in all business writing .

But, when someone uses false, insincere enthusiasm, then you’re faced with bad hype. Take a look at the spam email in your inbox, and it won’t take long to find faked enthusiasm. Lots of upper case letters and exclamation points, for example.

In our writing, we should use our communication skills, including knowledge of our readers, to stay within the boundaries of good hype. Good hype helps us judge people, products, and more. So, don’t hesitate to show your enthusiasm in those cases.

Our writing shouldn’t take us over the line, though. Not only for the sake of our own integrity — and that’s what this boils down to — but because the people with whom we’re communicating will likely respond negatively.

Summing up, you certainly can use hype in business writing generally and advertising specifically. Stay within the guidelines, though, respecting your own integrity and the interests of your readers or listeners.

A Place for Hype, or Not?

In one of the online discussion lists there was quite an exchange of messages about the place of hype in writing.

One reference site, Dictionaryreference.com, defines hype this way, “exaggerated publicity; hoopla…. an ingenious or questionable claim, method, etc., used in advertising, promotion, or publicity to intensify the effect.”

You don’t have to look hard to find it; consider Internet marketing for example, which has generated so much of it.

When someone sincerely enthuses about something, that’s good hype. If you love your new boyfriend or your new car, then you’re simply sharing your enthusiasm.

Yes, we should convey our enthusiasm for things in which we believe and feel that others should know about, too.

Advertising to boost profits

In this day and age businesses are looking for ways to survive. To accomplish this you have to take the intitiative. You can’t be reactive, you are going to have to be proactive.

The businesses that will fail are the ones that run and hide. You are aware of the ones. The ones that think that they don’t have the money to advertise. It is those kind of companies and thinking that will fail.  Because in this economy, businesses can’t afford not to advertise.

For those that understand and know they must advertise to make it in this economy go with this method.  This method is to use mobile billboards.  In the process of running my mobile billboard San Diego company I have seen many companies benefit from this.

Why use mobile billboard advertising?Because the customer is now more picky than ever in where they are going to spend their money. But not just that, most consumers can turn off all forms of advertising. They are able to skip commercials. They have satellite radio they can use which doesn’t have ads. They pretty much are able to live without commercials.

But with using mobile billboards or truck advertising in San Diego that I like to use, consumers can’t avoid the ads. Advertising trucks are their with them in traffic.  It is right in front of them.It is on the side of them.  It grabs their attention. With a beautifully designed ad, it will brand your business in your consumer’s mind.

It’s not like the other types of ads out there, this one cannot be turned off. So you are most definitely going to get impressions. You pretty much are guaranteed to have your ad and brand viewed by the consumer.  Compared to other forms of advertising it is much cheaper.  Mobile billboard rates are worth it in terms of getting seen by the consumer.

So if your efforts are to survive, you must give mobile advertising a try.  For your advertising dollar, it can’t be beat.  It will give you exposure.Your prospects won’t forget you.  You will make more sales.

Ways to brand your company

One of the needs of most businesses is for more brand exposure.More importantly for times like this in the economy.  Consumers are more selective on how they spend their money.  They are going to spend it with places and companies they trust. So in order for businesses to survive they are going to have to brand themselves.  They need consumers to think of them whenever their service or product comes to mind.

Well one of the most effective ways for you to do some branding of your business is mobile billboards.  I know it is one of the best ways because I have seen the results first hand running my San Diego mobile billboards company. For this method of advertising your company brand is lodged into the mind of the consumer. How you want to know?By possessing an ad that is beautiful and takes hold of their attention. On the freeways when the prospective customers are in their cars, a nicely designed mobile ad will do just that.It can take hold of the consumer’s attention and place your ad firmly in their consciousness.

You accomplish this basically by placing your ads on the side of the trucks. This is referred as truckside advertising.  I do it myself with my own truck advertising San Diego company.  This is in contrast to vehicles that specifically designed to be a mobile billboard.
Here you transform a regular truck or semi and change it into a mobile billboard by placing ads on it’s side.

It is an effective way to advertise and get in front of consumers.  When you consider the great prices and rates it costs to advertise it is a no brainer.

A bunch of alternate ways to advertise is out there available to you.  You have TV, radio, and newspapers. But it isn’t distributed in a fashion that allows it to be turned off or tuned out like TV or radio. When a person is driving in traffic, they are literally forced into having to take notice of these ads. That is the reason they are so powerful.

So if you really want to do some effective branding this is a method you want to try out.  You will be pleasantly surprised and how well known you become.  All from simple mobile billboard San Diego.

Channel Letter Signs Can Give Your Business An Edge

The first thing you see when you come up to a store it is signage. Attractive and unusual signs are now becoming more and more popular as companies want to differentiate themselves from the competition. So much so that the electric commercial signage industry is now believed to be over 2 billion dollars in the United States. Leading the charge are channel letter signs.

One product that has gained in popularity in the last few years is channel letter signs. Channel letters are made to stand out from a building and are lit with neon or LEDs lights. Channel letters are usually made of aluminum making them very light and versatile while still being able to withstand high winds and various weather conditions. For a nice soft glow, lights are placed at the back of the channel letters and are the newest trend.

Colored acrylic is usually used for the faces while the sides and backs of channel letters are built of aluminum. When these letters are illuminated from the inside with either neon or LEDs, it is called face lit. Halo lit channel letters are practically the opposite of face lit letters as the faces are usually made of aluminum while the backs are made out of clear polycarbonate.

There are two mounting methods for channel letters, the raceway or the direct mount. In the raceway fashion, the letters are attached to an aluminum box called a raceway which is then mounted to the wall of the building. The power supplies and all the wires are placed in the raceway box. In the case of direct mounted channel letters, the letters are affixed directly to the building. To connect the wiring to the inside power supply, holes must be made into the wall.  Raceway mounting is less difficult to install and maintain while the direct mounting usually gives the signage a cleaner look.

Illuminating the letters had only one selection up until recently and it was neon. LEDs lights can be utilized nowadays to illuminate channel letters. Many businesses are choosing to have their signage lit using LEDs lights in an attempt to be more environmentally conscious. A string of LEDs lights is attached at the back of the channel letters and it can be set up to allow for spectacular lighting effects. Using LEDs lights will enable your storefront signage to stand out from the others as they are incredibly bright and highly energy efficient. Channel letters can be illuminated using a range of colors. Red is the most fashionable and the least costly option at the moment in the case of LEDS lights. The color white is the next most popular selection.

Signs built using channel letters may be a bit more pricey than the more traditional options, but they will provide your business with 24 hours a day customer awareness. They will attract passerby throughout the day and will be visible from a greater distance than traditional sign options. This may translate into higher brand recognition and increased sales. In the end, this is the final goal of every company: to get more customers through their doors.

Give Your Business An Edge With Channel Letter Signs

Sign is usually the first element you will see when you walk up to a business. Beautiful and unusual signs are now becoming more and more popular as businesses want to separate themselves from the competition. In the United States, the electric commercial signage industry has now grown to more than 2 billion dollars. Channel letter signage are at the forefront.

Channel letter signage in particular have gained in popularity in the last few years. Channel letters are built to stand out from a building and are lit with neon or LEDs lights. Channel letters are able to endure high winds and various weather conditions while being light and versatile as they are made of aluminum. The latest trend has been to add the lights at the back of the channel letters providing them a nice soft glow.

Colored acrylic is usually used for the faces while the sides and backs of channel letters are made of aluminum. Face lighting means letters that are lit from the inside using either neon or LEDs lights. Made of aluminum with the backs built out of clear polycarbonate, halo lit channel letters are considered the reverse of face lit letters in the electric sign industry.

The channel letters can then be mounted either in a raceway or direct mount fashion. When letters are attached to an aluminum box called a raceway which is then mounted to the wall of a building, it is named raceway mounting. The raceway box contains all the wires and power supplies. When the channel letters are affixed directly to the structure, it is called the direct mount. Holes must be drilled in the wall to feed the wiring and attach it to an inside power supply.  While direct mounting may offer the sign a sharper look, raceway mounting is easier to install and maintain.

Lighting the letters had only one option up until recently and it was neon. However, today, channel letters can be lit using LEDs lights. In an attempt to be more environmentally conscious, many businesses are opting to have their signage illuminated using LEDs lights. Installed at the back of the channel letters, a string of LEDs lights can be made to offer spectacular lighting effects. Using LEDs lights will enable your storefront sign to stand out from the others as they are incredibly bright and highly energy efficient. Channel letters can be illuminated using a range of colors. In the case of LEDs lights, red is the most popular and the least costly option at the moment. The color white is the second most popular selection.

Channel letter signage will provide your business with 24 hours a day client awareness but are considered to be a bit more expensive than the more traditional options. They will be noticeable from a greater distance than traditional sign options and will attract passerby throughout the day. Additional sales and increased brand recognition may be experienced from using these signs. In the end, this is the ultimate goal of every business: to get more customers through their doors.
